With Thanksgiving just around the corner, many of us start thinking about what we are most thankful for. Traditionally, Thanksgiving celebrates a bountiful harvest and the joy of having plenty of healthy food to nourish our families.
For parents, providing nutritious food for our babies is still one of the most important ways we help them grow strong and healthy. While reflecting on the year, we realized there are a few things we feel especially grateful for.
Things Parents Are Thankful For
- Health. Today we know much more about nutrition and how to provide our babies with balanced diets full of vitamins, fiber, and energy.
- Technology. Modern parents can easily find information, recipes, feeding advice, and baby care tips online whenever they need it.
- Music. Babies love music too! Whether it's playful songs, rattling instruments, or a soothing lullaby before bedtime.
To celebrate Thanksgiving with your little one, we thought it would be fun to create a simple five-course baby meal. Your baby might not eat everything — some of it may end up on the floor or in their hair — but that’s all part of the fun of exploring new foods.
1. Baby Butternut Squash Soup
Ingredients
- 1 carrot, peeled and sliced
- 1 sweet apple, peeled, cored, and sliced

Use an immersion blender to puree the soup until smooth. Freeze leftovers in ice cube trays for easy baby-sized portions.
2. Sweet Potato Mash for Babies
Sweet potatoes are a favorite for many babies aged 6 months and older because of their natural sweetness and smooth texture.
Instructions
- Peel and slice sweet potatoes into small pieces
- Cover with water and bring to a boil
- Reduce heat and simmer for 10–15 minutes
- Drain and blend until smooth
- Add water if needed for texture
- Optional: add a dash of cinnamon or nutmeg
3. My First Turkey Dinner
Inspired by a recipe from baby food expert Annabel Karmel, this meal is ideal for babies between 6 and 9 months old.

- ½ tsp fresh thyme
- 0.7 oz frozen peas

- 1 tbsp grated parmesan cheese
Instructions
Blend half of the roasted vegetables with the milk until smooth and place into a saucepan. Add the stock and stir until smooth.
Finely chop the remaining vegetables and add them to the pan along with peas, turkey, and thyme. Heat gently until peas are cooked and finish by stirring in the parmesan cheese.
4. Banana-Tofu Baby Dessert
Many babies love bananas, and this creamy dessert is both nutritious and easy to make.
Ingredients
