1. Apple Cinnamon Smoothie
Apples can usually be introduced between 4 and 6 months. However, vegetables like romaine lettuce should not be served before 6–8 months. If your baby is younger than 6 months, simply leave out the lettuce.
This refreshing smoothie is packed with vitamins, and the cinnamon adds a delicious natural flavor.
Ingredients
- 1 cup sterilized water
- 1 organic Fuji apple
- ½ avocado
- 4 organic lettuce leaves
- A pinch of organic cinnamon
Blend all ingredients until smooth. Store refrigerated and shake well before serving.
2. Blueberry Banana Smoothie
This smoothie is rich in vitamins and healthy nutrients. Bananas can typically be introduced around 6 months, while blueberries, hemp hearts, and chia seeds are recommended after about 8 months.
Ingredients
- 1 cup sterilized water
- 1 frozen organic banana
- 1 cup organic blueberries
- 2 tablespoons hemp hearts
- A sprinkle of cinnamon
Blend all ingredients until creamy and smooth.
3. Avocado Oatmeal Smoothie
This smoothie is creamy, nutritious, and filling. It is suitable for babies starting around 8 months of age.
Ingredients
- ¼ organic avocado
- ½ organic banana
- ¼ cup organic oatmeal (for example Holle Organic Oatmeal Porridge)
- 1 cup organic whole milk yogurt (or goat milk yogurt for babies sensitive to cow’s milk)
- ¼ cup water
- 2–3 ice cubes
Blend all ingredients until smooth and keep refrigerated until serving.
4. Watermelon Summer Smoothie
Because this recipe includes honey, it should only be given to babies after 12 months. If you skip the honey, it becomes suitable for babies from about 8 months.
Ingredients
- 3 cups organic watermelon (seedless)
- 1 cup organic milk (goat milk, cow’s milk, almond milk, coconut milk, or rice milk)
- ½ cup organic yogurt
- 3 tablespoons honey (optional)
Cut the watermelon into small cubes and optionally freeze for about two hours before blending. Mix with milk, yogurt, and honey until smooth.
5. Tutti Frutti Summer Smoothie
This thick and fruity smoothie is rich in flavor and nutrients and works well for babies from around 8 months onward.
Ingredients
- 1 ripe organic banana
- 1½ cups mixed berries
- 1 cup plain organic yogurt
- ½ cup apple juice
Blend all ingredients until smooth and keep chilled until serving.
Tips for Preparing Baby Smoothies
- If you want to make the smoothie more filling, you can replace water with your baby’s infant formula.
- Smoothies should not remain outside the refrigerator for longer than one hour.
- Always introduce ingredients individually first to ensure your baby can tolerate them.
