The Holle Formula Range — Three Milk Types, One Philosophy
Holle's defining advantage is its Demeter biodynamic certification — the most rigorous farming standard in the world, requiring farms to operate as self-sustaining ecosystems with strict animal welfare, soil health, and biodiversity requirements. This goes significantly beyond standard EU organic certification. Across all three milk types in the Holle range, this farming philosophy is the constant. What changes is the milk source — and that difference matters for families choosing between them.
Holle Cow Milk Formula
Holle's standard cow milk range is the most widely used entry point in the Holle lineup. Made with Demeter biodynamic certified cow milk and following Holle's minimal ingredient philosophy — clean label, no unnecessary additives, clear stage structure from PRE through Stage 4. The benchmark choice for families who prioritize farming provenance and ingredient simplicity above all.
Holle Goat Milk Formula
Holle Goat brings the Demeter biodynamic philosophy to a goat milk base. Goat milk is naturally rich in A2 beta-casein protein and forms a softer curd than cow milk — qualities many parents find gentler on sensitive infant digestion. Available from Stage PRE through Stage 4. Not suitable for confirmed cow's milk protein allergy (CMPA) due to cross-reactivity between cow and goat milk proteins.
Holle A2 Formula
Holle A2 uses milk exclusively from cows that produce only A2 beta-casein protein — the same type found in human breast milk. Standard cow milk contains a mix of A1 and A2 beta-casein; Holle A2 removes the A1 component entirely. For families who want to stay within cow milk formula but are looking for a gentler protein profile, Holle A2 is the natural next step before considering goat milk or hydrolyzed alternatives. Available in Stage 1 and Stage 2.
Which Holle Formula Is Right for Your Baby?
If farming provenance and ingredient simplicity are your primary criteria — Holle Cow. If your baby shows digestive sensitivity on standard cow milk formula — Holle Goat or Holle A2. If you want to stay within cow milk but with a gentler protein profile — Holle A2. If you want the digestive advantages of goat milk with Demeter certification — Holle Goat. Use our formula finder to compare all three options side by side by stage and ingredient profile.
