Christmas Baby Food Ideas and Yummy Recipes
The good news is that Christmas dinner for your baby can be prepared easily using some of the same ingredients you will already be cooking for the rest of the family.
Organic Turkey
Starting at around 7 months, your baby can begin enjoying turkey.
You will need:
- 2 cooked organic broccoli florets
- 1 medium cooked organic carrot
- 1 large slice of turkey
- 1 cooked organic potato
This is how:
Make sure not to add salt to the cooked vegetables. Blend the turkey in a food processor and add a little water or homemade organic stock until you reach the desired consistency.
Add the cooked potato to help thicken the mixture along with the remaining vegetables and puree until smooth. This recipe can also be adapted using other organic meats or vegetables—just make sure they are age-appropriate for your baby.
Organic Homemade Gravy
We almost never use store-bought gravy because it usually contains too much salt and simply doesn’t taste as good as homemade gravy.
To make your own healthier version, puree ½ cup of cooked vegetables with 1 cup of meat juices from the roasting pan. You can also add a small amount of organic tomato puree to enhance the flavor. Just make sure to avoid adding too much salt.
Homemade Stuffing Recipe
This is an all-time favorite!
Take one large loaf of your favorite bread and let it sit for about two days so it dries slightly. Then cut it into small cubes.
Other ingredients you will need:
- 1 oz (1/8 cup) celery, very finely chopped
- 1 oz (1/8 cup) organic grass-fed butter
- 2 oz (1/4 cup) onion, very finely chopped
- 1 fl oz (1/8 cup) organic homemade chicken or vegetable stock
- A small amount of organic sage
- A pinch of organic parsley
This is how:
- Melt the organic grass-fed butter and sauté the onion and celery until translucent.
- Mix the onion, celery, and butter with the bread cubes. Add the herbs and stock, and mix well.
- Place the stuffing mixture into a greased oven-safe dish and bake for 15–20 minutes until golden brown on top.
Apple Sauce
Our little ones love apple sauce—and honestly, so do we! It pairs beautifully with Christmas dinner.
You will need:
- 3 organic apples
- Half a lemon
- Water
- A food processor
This is how:
- Peel, core, and slice the apples.
- Add about 1½ cups of water to a large pot. Add the apples and three spoons of organic lemon juice and bring to a boil.
- Once the apples are soft, blend them in a food processor until smooth.
- Allow the applesauce to cool before serving.
We at Organic Baby Formula Shop wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas!
